The RX 460 is based on the GPU Polaris 11 "Baffin" produced with the production process to 14nm FinFET. The chip features 896 Stream Processors, 56 TMU, 16 ROP varanti and is available in 2GB and 4GB GDDR5.
The architecture Graphics Core Next 4.0 is the foundation of every Polaris video card, and is characterized by an improved geometry engine, the enhanced caching and asynchronous shader natives to ensure full compatibility and maximum performance with the latest libraries DirectX 12 and Vulkan .
In this version the heat sink DirectCU III has two fans and a plastic construction to keep costs low, aesthetically is completely black but are included in the bundle two colored stickers in addition to the presence of the ROG logo with RGB lighting. There are two heat pipes in direct contact with the GPU in addition to a small heatsink for the VRM and the whole is cooled by two fans with 0dB technology.
The STRIX model has a 1256 MHz core frequency and 4GB of GDDR5 memory at 1750 MHz. The TDP of 75W would not require any additional power supply, but ASUS has decided nevertheless to provide an additional 6-pin connector.
The video outputs are HDMI 2.0b, a DisplayPort 1.4 and one DVI dual link. The DisplayPort 1.4 supports the latest and future resolutions including 1080p @ 240Hz, 1440p @ 240Hz, 4K @ 120Hz or even 190Hz 1440p @ "ultrawide". HDR, and encoding / decoding hardware is also supported for 4K recording using the H.265 codec.
